When some tango duets, like those combining transverse flute and piano or guitar appear, it is often the case that the great care in the interpretation gains ground to expressiveness. However, this is not what happens in the duet formed by the flautist Paulina Fain and the pianist Exequiel Mantega.
The musical communion that takes place in this duet draws very good results. And it is definitely the sum of many factors: the repertoire choice (some well known melodies, their own songs and songs by Piazzolla), the arrangements, and finally the chemistry that arises when playing.
They could have focused their work on tangos and milongas from the old school, for example, which is something many duets do. Nevertheless, the spectrum is extended, even beyond the grounds of tango. This is another attraction of this bright material.
